Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers and has been on users’ devices for years now. It offers a wide range of features that can make the browsing experience easier and smoother. One of these is the Google Chrome screenshots tool. Yes, if you are not aware of this, Google Chrome brings its own feature to let you take screenshots with ease. This is part of Chrome's sharing menu which has several features such as Copy Link, send to your devices, QR codes, print, and Screenshot.

This built-in tool on Google Chrome enables users to take a screenshot of any web page. The screenshot tool is a great way to reduce the dependence on any third-party extensions to capture the screen. Here, know in a step-by-step manner, how to enable and capture the screenshot in the Google Chrome browser on your Windows computer. Let’s begin.

How to enable the Google Chrome screenshot tool

Step 1: First, open the Google Chrome browser on your Windows computer or laptop.

Step 2: Once you are on the browser, go to the flags settings page or simply enter this - chrome://flags - in the address search bar.

Step 3: Here, find the “Desktop screenshots” option while using the search bar.

Step 4: Now, use the drop-down menu right next to the “Desktop Screenshots” option and then select “Desktop Screenshots Edit Mode”.

Step 5: You will need to select the “Enabled” option.

Step 6: Once you make the changes, the Chrome browser will ask to relaunch the page. Tap on the “Relaunch” button and that’s it!

After the completion of these steps, the built-in screenshot tool of the Google Chrome browser will be enabled to use on the Microsoft Windows operating system.

How to capture screenshot in Google Chrome

Step 1:

To capture a screenshot in Google Chrome, you will need to click on the “Share this page” button, available right next to the webpage’s URL. 

Step 2:

Now, select the “Screenshot” option from the drop-down menu. 

Step 3:

Now, select the area of the screen that you want to capture and this will automatically capture the screenshot which will be copied to the clipboard. This will also show a preview at the top of the right corner in the Chrome browser. 

Step 4:

After that, there will be two options — Edit and Download. If you want to save the screenshot on your device, then click the Download button, which will be saved as a PNG image. Well, you have an option to edit it too. For that, tapping on the Edit button will open a new “Screen Image Editor” tab with several tools to edit the screenshot.
