Google introduced dark mode with Android 10 last year. Dark mode not only offers a different UI but it also helps in low-light environments and helps save battery life. Google has been rolling out dark mode support for its apps. The latest ones to receive dark mode are Google Docs, Sheets and Slides for Android.

Google started rolling out dark mode for these apps earlier this month. It takes 15 days for new Google features to reach all users. By now all G Suite and personal users must have received dark mode for Docs, Sheets and Slides. There are two ways to enable dark mode for these apps. One is turned on by default when the phone’s system-wide dark mode is enabled. Another is to manually turn on dark mode for each app. And here’s how you can do it.

1. Open Google Docs, Sheets or Slides app.

2. Go to the menu and open settings.

3. Then select theme and dark.

4. Dark mode will be applied on all three apps.

This works the same way for each app. You can also view documents or sheets in light theme by going to More > View in light theme. Users who already have the dark theme enabled on their phones will see these apps automatically switch to dark mode.

You can also change this by choosing either dark, light or system default for the app’s theme. Follow the same steps listed above to choose to switch between dark or light themes.
