Today, December 31, 2021 is the last day for filing Income Tax Returns ) for the financial year 2020-21 (AY21-22) and people have started demanding the extension of the due date. #Extend_Due_Date_Immediately is trending on Twitter. From the tweets it can be seen that the taxpayers are complaining of technical problems with the ITR portal and hence are further demanding for date extension. The central government had extended the ITR filing due date to December 31 from July 31 earlier in the year.
"3 reasons enough to extend ITR due date :- 1. New portal made avlbl. late 2. Though late, but a mess taking away sevrl. man hours. Just a mon. back its added some sense 3. Sudden AIS & TIS derailed evrythg," a Twitter user tweeted. While another user wrote, "Thank you Infosys and Income Tax India for such a wonderful portal, new errors and new glitches every day."
Another Twitter user by sharing a few pictures of the portal tweeted,"Glitches, technical failure, beyond capacity, bugs, errors, UDIN deferred ….many more . Picture abhi baki hai Babu Moshay." "The #newincometaxportal is working very slow & showing errors/glitches. Pl accept the ground realities & announce to extension urgently," a tweet by another taxpayer read.
Income tax return is a form filed by an individual to report his/her annual income. The form enables you or any taxpayer to declare your income, expenses, tax deductions, investments, among others.
