Here is how to use BHIM UPI Payments app. (BHIM)

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a very reliable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system that allows users to send/receive money, make payment via a Virtual Payment Address or QR code without any hassles. It has eased the process of carrying out financial transactions considerably. You can transfer money on all 365 days in a year on a 24/7 basis. It is even accessible on bank holidays. It was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It’s an aggregator for all UPI-based services offered by banks. If you don’t know how to use it or are facing problems in using UPI, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out.

Step 1:

To use the BHIM UPI, you will need to first download the application from Google Play Store by searching for ‘BHIM’. The app is not available on iPhones yet.

Step 2:

Once, the app is installed, proceed to set up your profile by choosing your preferred language and verifying your phone number linked with the bank account.

Step 3:

Click on Next and wait for the verification process to be completed.

Step 4:

Once the verification is complete, set up a four digit passcode.

Step 5:

Next, select your bank from the dropbox and the app will automatically pick up your details using your phone number. 

Step 6:

Now, select the primary bank account that will be used for all your transactions and your profile will be ready for transactions.

Step 7:

You can send/ request or scan/pay by tapping any of the available options. Note that the transactions are possible only between verified phone numbers.

Step 8:

If you want to send money to someone, type in their phone number or UPI id or bank details and add the amount to be transferred. 

Step 9:
  1. The app will prompt you to input your MPIN or a four or a six digit code that authenticates the transaction and your money will be transferred. Likewise, you can also request money from someone, using their phone number.
Step 10:

If you want to scan & pay, then scan the two dimensional black and white barcode and make the payment.
