There are several mobile applications for making online payments like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM, among others. The use of these applications has increased due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic as digitalization got a boost in India. From education to buying groceries and making payments, everything has gone digital. However, there are people who do not have any smartphone or Unified Payment Interface (UPI) address because of which sending money to them becomes difficult. But, with this trick, you can actually send money without any problem to people who do not even have a phone.

Yes, you can send money using Aadhaar number to people who do not have a phone or UPI address. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has informed that people who use BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money), can send money using Aadhaar Number to recipients with no phone or UPI address. It can be noted that BHIM is a UPI based payment interface and allows real time fund transfers using a single identity like your mobile number or name.

As per UIDAI the option to send money using Aadhaar Number is visible in beneficiary address in BHIM. If you are a BHIM user and want to try sending money using Aadhaar Number then here is all you need to know:

What is the method to send money using Aadhaar Number in BHIM?

For sending or transferring money using Aadhaar Number, a BHIM user will have to enter the 12 digit unique Aadhaar Number of the beneficiary and press the verify button. After this, the system will verify Aadhaar linking and populate beneficiary address and the user will be able to send money.

Which account of the recipient will get credited?

According to UIDAI, the bank account of the recipient chosen by him/her to receive DBT/Aadhaar Based credits will get credited when the money will be transferred to him/her. Also, Aadhaar Number and Fingerprint can be used to make digital payment to merchants who use Aadhaar Pay POS for receiving payments.

In case, if a person has accounts with more than 1 bank and all the accounts are linked to Aadhaar then in such a situation all the accounts can be used for making digital payments.

As per UIDAI, "While making Aadhaar Based payment, you will be given an option to choose the bank name from which you want to pay. Thus, you have the choice of deciding the bank, each time you make a payment." Also, your account will be debited online / immediately while paying through Aadhaar Pay.
