Tinder earlier this year introduced a new Photo Verification feature on its platform. Now, nearly six months later, the company is bringing the same to its platform in India.
To give you a quick brief about this feature, Tinder’s Photo Verification feature allows users to self-authenticate via a series of real-time posed selfies. These selfies are then compared to existing profile photos of the Tinder users using human-assisted artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The company says that the verification process only takes a few minutes, and once verified, the profiles display a blue checkmark so members can trust the authenticity of profiles when swiping.
The feature was aimed at increasing the safety on Tinder profiles by ensuring that people on Tinder were exactly who they said they were.
At the time of the launch, this feature was available only in the US. Now, the company has rolled out this feature in India.
If you are using Tinder, here’s how you can verify your profile:
Step 1: Open Tinder and tap the profile icon.
Step 2: Tap the gray checkmark by your name/age.
Step 3: Select ‘Verify your profile’ to begin.
Step 4: You’ll be shown a pose and we’ll ask you to copy that pose by taking a selfie.
Step 5: Confirm that your selfie matches the pose and hit ‘Submit for review’.
Step 6: Repeat steps 4 and 5 one more times.
