Nokia may not be making headlines with its Android smartphone range lately but it is taking a different approach with laptops. The company has announced the Nokia Purebook S14 laptop that comes with Windows 11 pre-installed. This makes it the first laptop to go on sale in India with Windows 11. Nokia will put the laptop on sale on October 3 via Flipkart.
The Nokia Purebook S14 will sit under Purebook X14 laptop that was launched earlier in the year. Nokia offers the laptop at a starting price of ₹56,999 for the base variant with 8GB RAM, although the 16GB RAM version is yet to reveal its prices.
The biggest highlight of this Nokia laptop is that it runs on Windows 11 out of the box. This makes it the first laptop to be sold with Microsoft’s new operating system after it was announced back in June 2021. The official release of the stable version of Windows 11 is scheduled for October 5 but one can experience it in beta versions already.
Apart from Windows 11, this is essentially a midrange Windows laptop. Nokia is offering the Purebook S14 with an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor with a choice of either 8GB or 16GB RAM. For storage, there is a 512GB NVMe SSD storage onboard. The laptop relies on an Intel Iris Xe graphics solution. It has a 14-inch Full HD IPS display with a Privacy Switch built in for the webcam.
The laptop weighs 1.4 Kgs and Nokia is offering a limited number of ports onboard. One only gets a USB-C full function port and a USB-A port along with an HDMI port. The speakers are mounted on the top.
At this price, the Nokia Purebook S14 competes with the likes of Xiaomi’s Mi Notebook Pro and Realme Book Slim, both of which rely on 11th Gen Core i5 processors. Both Xiaomi and Realme offer a 2.5K resolution display, and more modern designs.
Nokia also launched a couple of smart TV models in India, including its first QLED TVs in 50 and 55-inch models.
