When Apple rolled out iOS 14, it’s official changelog mentioned that iPhone X and later models will receive 1080p resolution FaceTime video call support. However, it looks like two older phones have also received this feature. We’re talking about iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, both of which launched alongside iPhone X in 2017. Originally, all these iPhones had 720p resolution FaceTime calls but with iOS 14.2, iPhone 8 models have also got an upgrade.

You can even see the new feature being mentioned on the handset’s comparison page. It is worth adding that 1080p resolution is available only via Wi-Fi network. While this upgrade has been witnessed now in iPhone 8, it is not for sure when exactly these two handsets got this. However, according to a report by MacMagazine, it came with iOS 14.2.

It is worth adding that iPhone 12 models can make 1080p FaceTime calls over Wi-Fi and 5G. The report adds that since both iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 models have the same front camera hardware, the 4G connectivity seems to be the only issue for not having 1080p FaceTime call on iPhone 11.

Meanwhile, there have been reports indicating that iPhone 12 users are facing network issues like connection loss when they are on the move. Most of the users are on the Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile networks. Apple has not yet given any statement on this as the complaints keep piling up on the forums. The problem seems to be with all the iPhone 12 models including iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
