Now that Apple has announced the WWDC 2021 conference where it is expected to reveal iOS 15, a new report by MixPanel has given us the latest figures on iOS 14 adoption. Back in December last year, Apple said that 81% of iPhones it introduced in the last four years were already running on iOS 14, which was released last year. But now, the report from MixPanel says that the adoption rate for iOS 14 has crossed 90%. Right now, the number stands at 90.45% and is impressive as well considering iOS 14 came out in September last year. The report adds that while 5.07% of the users are still on iOS 13, 4.48% are on iOS 12 or older versions.

Apple has not yet confirmed the latest numbers though. All we know for sure, is that as per the Apple Developer website, 80% of all iOS devices were running iOS 14 until February 24 this year. And in any case this is better than the adoption rate of Google’s Android.

According to a report by Statcounter from March this year, Android 11, although got the fastest adoption rate out of any Android version to date in the US, was still at 25% six months after its release. On the global level, Android 10 still leads the table among other Android OSes but has achieved half of what iOS 14 has got - 41% market share. Although Google is trying hard to overcome the fragmentation issue, it still has a lot of work to do in bringing OEMs and their multiple handsets in sync with the latest update.

For now, all eyes are on iOS 15, which is expected to show up at WWDC 2021 online-only conference. The firm also has iOS 14.5 under beta right now.
