Apple analyst, Ming Chi Kuo has doubled down on the previous rumours and speculations for 2022 iPhones and the rumoured AR headset. The analyst has once again stated that at least one of the 2022 iPhone models aka iPhone 14, might feature a 48-megapixel primary camera at the back. For now, even the latest and most powerful iPhone, the 12 Pro Max, comes with a Pro 12-megapixel camera system. And considering how powerful the iPhone cameras already are, a 48-megapixel sensor will probably be miles ahead in terms of sharpness and clarity.

On the other hand, Kuo (via Apple Insider) sticks with his previous prediction of Apple launching its AR headset in 2022 alongside the iPhone 14. However, he states that the firm has been altering the mix of its suppliers.

He states that there has been a price competition between lens suppliers and that the prices should stabilise in the second quarter of 2021. The competition and supplier mix is happening due to Apple’s decision to use Largan Precision’s help for iPhone 13 lens components. He states that Sunny Opticals, another Apple manufacturer, may lose a part of the pie due to Largan. It may be able to secure 3% of Apple’s orders for lenses as compared to the projected 10%.

Kuo adds that Largan now has less incentive to work on iPhone 13 lens components and may invest more on Android for higher profits. Also mentioned is that a large part of supplies will come from Largan and Yujingguang, both which are also working with Apple to develop AR/MR headset that is rumoured to come out in later 2022 alongside the 48-megapixel camera iPhone.
