Big setback for Apple as iPhone 14 orders cut by 10%? Check Ming-Chi Kuo's savage response

Amid people all over the world eagerly waiting for the Apple iPhone 14 series to hit the market in September, there are reports indicating that Apple has cut the orders for iPhone 14 by a whopping 10 percent. According to a report by imore.com, Digitimes has reported that Apple's leading chip supplier, TSMC, has seen a sudden downturn in fortunes because of three major customers cutting back orders. "It is understood that the mass production of Apple's iPhone 14 series has started, but the target shipment of the first wave of 90 million units has been reduced by 10%," the report by imore.com quoted.

The report also observed decreasing demand for consumer electronics. It said that it is expected to fall further in the second half of the year, and that the supply and demand downturn is "worse than expected." However, the rumors of cutting iPhone orders have been questioned by a renowned analyst named Ming-Chi Kuo, who has reacted quite strongly on Twitter. Taking to his Twitter account he lambasted the rumored TSMC's iPhone 14 orders cut by 10 percent and said that these are not "aligned with his survey". Kuo further stated he currently maintains his 2H22 shipment forecast for iPhone 14, about 100 mn and 90 mn units for components and EMS, respectively.

In a series of tweets, Kuo strongly interjected, " Apple's slight adjustments for iPhone shipment forecasts (single-digit increase/decrease) are common, including new models before mass production. Apple doesn't usually markedly change shipment forecasts for new iPhones (double-digit increase/decrease) before launching new models and confirming the actual market demand/feedback."

"If a supply chain issue causes a significant change in the shipment plan of the new iPhones before mass production, Apple usually postpones the orders instead of cutting them. The above also applies to Apple's other products.," He added.

It can be known that Apple is expected to launch 4 iPhone 14 models namely Phone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, on September 13. However, there is no official confirmation for the same from Apple.
