App Annie’s numbers provide deep insight into how the app has grown in popularity through an exclusive invite system, despite being available on only one mobile platform. According to TechCrunch, Clubhouse CEO put the app’s growth figures at 2 million in January, so even though the company hasn’t released official figures, App Annie’s statistics seem to be on the right track.

The analytics firm also estimates that the viral uptick in usage for the app can be attributed to several celebrity appearances on the app, including well-known figures in February, such as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. According to App Annie, these appearances helped the app exceed 2.6 million downloads in the US itself.

But that’s not all, according to the analytics firm. Other apps around the world in countries like China, the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have started attracting large downloads as well. Along with social media giant Facebook, which is also planning a similar service, it found that another social app based on wellness and community called Quilt announced a $3.5 million seed round.
