And this is where the crucial bit matters – the kind of iPhone. iOS 16 is focused more on the aesthetics than ever and hence, it makes obvious sense to go for one that has a massive display size. After all, you will want to have your beautiful lockscreen displayed in all its might and glory. Thankfully, there are several iPhone models that you can buy, or stick to, to get the best iOS 16 experience.

Goes without saying, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is easily the best iPhone to witness iOS 16, until the iPhone 14 arrives. It's tall and wide 6.7-inch display has all the space in the world to do justice to those custom lockscreens, and enough real estate for hosting all of iOS 16's other smart features. Plus, the 120Hz variable refresh rate will keep all animations smooth. The A15 Bionic chip with the hexa-core GPU also makes it capable to do almost everything with ease. Additionally, its stellar battery life will make experiencing iOS 16 a breeze.
You don't get the same large and smooth display here but the iPhone 13 with its 6.1-inch display is the second best way to witness iOS 16. You still get the A15 Bionic chip, and enough screen real estate to play with iOS 16 and all its features. Moreover, its price also makes it the more reasonable choice of the two.
You probably saw this coming. The iPhone 12 is basically almost the same phone as the iPhone 13, except for the larger display notch, slightly older cameras, and a smaller battery. But you are paying much lesser for the iPhone 12 at the moment, and it is likely to offer all of iOS 16's features in the very best way. If you have an iPhone 12 and want to upgrade to iPhone 13 for iOS 16, we recommend you stick to it.
If you have an iPhone 12 Mini, stick to it for experiencing iOS 16. The 5.4-inch display is big enough to enjoy the additions, and its A14 chip can run it effortlessly. Watch out for the battery life though, as the iPhone 12 Mini isn't known to have the best battery life around.
Don't buy this for iOS 16; keep it if you already own it. The iPhone 11 is now three years old and its A13 chip isn't the fastest chip around. However, the 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display is large enough to let you play with all the customization features. You might not be getting all of iOS 16 smart upgrades though on this one.
We don't even need to explain why. The tiny 4.7-inch LCD display with its fat bezels is just too much compromise to witness the the upgrades.
