Gionee smartphone with 10,000mAh battery gets certified by Tenaa, still runs Android Nougat

Gionee seems set to make a comeback with a unique smartphone that might be called as the ‘battery champion’ of the year. The mysterious handset by the firm has been certified by Tenaa and boasts of a 10,000mAh battery, which is way more than any handset you get at today’s date across price segments. The highest battery capacity that is ‘usual’ right now is 6000mAh. 

The listing shows the Gionee smartphone with model number 20200418. Interestingly, the smartphone is seen listed with Android 7.0 Nougat OS version. Having a smartphone with large battery is not a first time for Gionee. In 2016, it launched the M2017 that came with 7000mAh battery.

As mentioned in the listing, the smartphone will come in Black and Blue colours, will measure 160.6x75.8x8.4mm and sport a 5.72-inch screen with HD+ (720x1440 pixels) resolution. Its added that the handset will come in three variants based on 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options. There will also be a microSD card support for up to 128GB storage. 

Although the processor is not mentioned, the listing does reveal 8 cores and 2Ghz clock speed. There will be two cameras as well and the one at the back will also have a physical fingerprint sensor placed just below it. 

From the design perspective, the smartphone looks like a heavy-duty or a rugged device. Nothing can be said for sure though. 

Gionee hasn’t been active in the smartphone space lately. However, it does launch a phone from time to time. The last device it introduced was back in May – Gionee K6. It was launched in China at a starting price of 799 Yuan.
