Honor V40 to launch with Google Play Services: Report

Honor is scheduled to launch its V40 smartphone series on January 22. Honor has been teasing its upcoming smartphone along with leaks shedding light on what to expect. A new report now suggests that Honor V40 will come with Google Play Services making it the first phone after the Huawei US ban.

According to a report by Lenta Ru, Honor V40 will come with Google Play Services. The report added that Honor postponed the launch of V40 from December to January for this reason. The possibility of Google services on Honor V40 is believed to be from the fact that Honor is no longer under Huawei. Honor was sold off to a new entity called Shenzen Zhixin New Information Technology formed by the company’s agents and dealers.

There’s still no official confirmation on this though, and we’ll only get to know when the phone is launched. Post the US ban, Huawei launched its own mobile operating system called ‘Harmony OS’. It was previously offering Magic UI based on Android for Huawei and Honor smartphones.

Honor V40 is expected to be a mid-range smartphone with a 6.72-inch full HD+ AMOLED display and 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone could pack a 4,000mAh battery with 66W fast charging and 55W wireless charging support. Honor V40 is also rumoured to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ processor.

In terms of optics, Honor V40 could feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. For selfies it is expected to feature 32-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors.
