We have already seen companies that have smartphones with in-display front camera. Most have also come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, Huawei seems to be working on a handset that might be a notch above than all of them. It is not just working on an all screen fingerprint display, which is not really seen in any mass-produced smartphone for now, but is also working to make it coexist with in-screen cameras.

“We are working to make it [all-screen fingerprint – ed] co-exist with in-display selfie cameras,” says Huawei in an emailed response to Android Authority.

Huawei adds that since an all-screen fingerprint sensor requires multiple biometric sensors instead of just one that you find in handsets these days, it is working on cutting down the cost of sensors so the tech reaches the market at the earliest. What’s more is that since powering the entire screen with multiple sensors might take some battery life, Huawei seems to have a solution for that as well.

The company says it will use machine learning to power only that part of the screen where your thumb touches the most.

Huawei has even given a rough timeline of when this tech will reach its handsets. “There is not a definitive date yet, but it is likely to come to market in a generation or two,” stated the firm. This also means that one shouldn’t be expecting this in the upcoming Mate 40 for now.

While Huawei is working on an all screen fingerprint sensor with in-display cameras, on the other hand, it is also reportedly working on the second gen of smart glasses. Called as Huawei Eyewear II, the wearable is second-gen products and will be launching soon. Reports reveal that this one might be more stylish in looks and include more functions. The new version may also come with an upgraded smart assistant but with a reduced weight of 20 grams.
