There seems to be a bug in iOS 14 that is making iPhone users report issues with notification alerts for texts and voice calls, iMessage and also WhatsApp. The problems being faced by people is not limited to one app or to a particular model of the iPhone and seems to be rather widespread.
Going by the complaints being posted on online platforms and the Apple Community forums, the bug has been affecting almost all iPhone models that are compatible with iOS 14.
Users have complained on Apple Community forums that they aren’t getting notifications for new text messages and iMessages after updating their phones to iOS 14. There is no issue with the messages being delivered but only the notifications. Both the pop-up notifications and the red badge that keeps a count of the unread messages is failing for many users, according to a report in The Verge.
Third party apps like WhatsApp and Signal are also facing notification issues and some users are also reporting problems with voice call alerts.
One of the users affected by the bug wrote on the Apple Community forum that he/she was missing calls and notifications from other apps as well. The thread on notification issues was started in September this year and has now gone into 43 pages according to reports.
Some users have provided workarounds for these issues like turning off Messages on a connected Mac or force closing the Messages app. However, these hacks are not working for many users.
MacRumours has reported about notification issues on all the new iPhone 12 devices but now users have been reporting issues on other devices as well.
