Apple iPad Air 5 launched! Check price and specs of this 5th Gen iPad

After keeping the headlines humming with some really exciting rumors and leaks, Apple iPad Air 5 has finally been launched. The 5th Gen iPad Air was launched at the Apple Event 2022 that took place today. It was previously believed that the new iPad Air 5 will be equipped with Apple M1 chip to give a boost to its performance. The same chip was used in iPad Pro as well as MacBook Air 2020 and MacBook Pro. But finally, we know both the price and the exact specifications of the newly launched iPad Air 5. iPad Air 5 specifications

The iPad Air 5 features a 10.9-inch liquid retina display with symmetrical bezel. It has a fingerprint sensor on the standby button on top and a USB-C port at the bottom, similar to iPad Air 4. The biggest upgrade for the 5th generation iPad is the brand new M1 chipset. The M1 SoC is going to give the iPad Air 5 a huge performance boost with its 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU. Apple claims that the CPU is 60% faster and the GPU is 2X faster than its predecessor. 

The iPad Air 5 sports a 12MP ultra wide front-facing camera with a support for center stage. The center stage is Apple's new camera technology that keeps the subject of the video during video calls in the frame even if they move around. This helps in building a more dynamic experience. Apart from that, the iPad will also run on iPadOS15, which will give it multitasking capabilities, which it is sure to take on easily with the new M1 SoC. 

On the connectivity, the iPad Air 5 supports 5G connectivity and will be available in both WiFi only as well as WiFi + cellular connectivity variants. The iPad Air 5 comes in the 64GB and 256GB storage variants. Also, unlike its predecessors, the iPad Air 5 will be available in an additional purple color apart from space grey, starlight, pink and blue finishes.

The iPad Air 5 WiFi only variant comes at a starting price of Rs. 54,900 and the WiFi + cellular connectivity variant will be available starting Rs. 68,900. The iPad Air 5 will be available from March 18.
