iPhone 13 becomes TOO cheap in Japan, this is what Apple does

iPhone 13 prices vary in different countries depending on the exchange rates and various other factors. Hence, this is why you often hear your relatives coming from the US with a truckload of iPhones at cheaper prices. In a similar fashion, foreign tourists in Japan have been taking advantage of low Yen-Dollar exchange rates, which recently hit an all-time low of 24 years. The lower rates mean that one can secure the still new iPhone 13 from Japan at a price much lesser than the original price in the person’s native country. Apple obviously didn’t like that.

Thanks to the lower exchange rate, the price of the iPhone 13 is now much cheaper, with some considering it a steal! Some reports from the country are saying the foreign tourists are literally looting iPhones due to the tax rebate. Data released by local research institutions have shown that the iPhone 13 128GB variant, which is the base model, carries a price of 98800 Yen, which is almost $195 cheaper than what Apple wants to charge. In simple English, that means foreigners are saving Rs. 15000 on a brand new iPhone 13 without even applying any offer or discount.

As with any company, Apple wasn’t willing to sit and incur losses from clever iPhone shoppers. Hence, it is now reported that the local Apple Store in Japan has dropped the tax rebate for foreign tourists. No more of that mega $195 discount on the base iPhone 13 model.

Don’t be sad if you were travelling to Japan and were planning to pick up an iPhone 13 for cheap. It is only the Apple Store that has dropped the tax rebate for now. The local electrical stores are yet to cancel the tax rebate, which means one can still take advantage of the offer.

Despite being several months old now, the iPhone 13 is still selling like hotcakes across the world. A recent research report from Counterpoint Research said that the iPhone 13 was the top-selling smartphone in the month of April 2022. The next two spots were occupied by the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro, which are more expensive variants of the iPhone 13 with additional features. Sadly, the iPhone 13 Mini hasn’t been selling as well as the rest of the iPhone 13 range.
