iPhone 13 now Made in India, CONFIRMS Apple! This is what happens to its price

iPhone 13 finally gets the “Made in India” tag! After months of rumours and trial production, the iPhone 13 is now confirmed to be manufactured in India. Apple confirms the same in a media note, saying that the iPhone 13 is now manufactured locally. There’s no revelation on which of the iPhone 13 models are made in India though. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are still said to be imported from global markets while there is now word on the iPhone 13 Mini.

The report from The Economic Times says that the iPhone 13 is now manufactured by Foxconn at its Chennai plant; the same plant where tensions regarding worker accommodation had escalated towards the end of last year. On the other hand, Appel also manufactures the iPhone 12 in India and going forward, its third partner Pegatron will also start manufacturing the iPhone 12 from later this month. At the moment, Apple makes the iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 in India. There is no word on the new iPhone SE yet.

iPhone 13 now made in India

“We are excited to begin making iPhone 13—with its beautiful design, advanced camera systems for stunning photos and videos, and the incredible performance of the A15 Bionic chip—right here in India for our local customers,” Apple said in a statement.

What about the iPhone 13’s pricing though? Does “make in India” reduce its price? Not at the moment. You will continue to see the iPhone 13 selling at the same price as it does regularly. However, experts say that widening the local manufacturing speeds up the “go-to-market for Apple with a better control over the supply chain”. This could help with new cost savings, which the company can push for aggressive marketing schemes during the festive season sales via third-party partners.

Apple has been seen as the fastest growing brands in India in 2021, with overall shipments growing 108 percent year-on-year to a record of 5 million units. With the iPhone 12 now said to be manufactured by Pegatron, and the arrival of the new iPhone SE 2022 edition, is is expected of Apple to perform even better in 2022.
