LG K42 with US military grade durability launched in India

LG has launched a new budget smartphone in India. LG K42 made its debut last year, and it comes with MIL-STD-810G certification making it strong enough to pass nine categories of US military defense standard.

LG K42 is priced at ₹10,990, and it will be available exclusively on Flipkart from January 26 onwards. LG is offering a 2-year extended warranty along with a free one-time screen replacement on the smartphone. It comes in two colour options of gray and green. The smartphone also has a punch-hole display making it one of the few budget phones with this design.

In terms of specs, LG K42 features a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a punch-hole camera. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P23 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and it has a Google Assistant button as well. Double tapping the Google Assistant launches Visual Snapshot for weather, schedule and other information.

LG K42 has a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel wide angle lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. It also has AI-based camera features and Google Lens integrated in the camera. For selfies, LG K42 features an 8-megapixel front camera.

The smartphone packs a 4,000mAh battery. It is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, and a USB Type-C port.

The launch of LG K42 comes at a time when the company is rumoured to be exiting the smartphone industry. LG plans to solve its smartphone business issues this year with possibilities of sale, withdrawal and downsizing as well.
