Android 11 has rolled out to several devices already, especially those manufactured by Samsung and Xiaomi. While many users are now using the latest version of Android, users on older, unsupported devices, may not be so lucky. That’s where ‘aftermarket’ builds of Android, or custom ROMs, help users get the most out of their devices.

LineageOS, the spiritual successor to the most popular custom ROM Cyanogenmod, has been releasing regular builds for a long list of Android devices since Android Nougat was released, bringing users a  few extra years out of their devices. The team behind the custom ROM has now updated several devices to LineageOS 18.1 based on Android 11.

There are over 60 devices getting the LineageOS 18.1 update — from manufacturers like Essential, F(x)tec, Google (Nexus and Pixel), LeEco, LG, Motorola, Nextbit, Nokia, Oneplus, Razer, Samsung, Sony and Xiaomi, according to the project’s blog post announcing the new release. This list is expected to grow even larger as other devices in testing become more ‘stable’.

Along with all the new features from Android 11, LineageOS has also updated the built-in apps like the Recorder app, which now has a Quick Setting tile, the built-in calendar (which has been replaced by the open-source Etar app) and the Seedvault app for system backups. Similarly, Eleven, the music app on the custom ROM has been updated with a modern interface and supports the new music player notification features.
