Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is going full flagship! Rumours have it that this upcoming flagship grade phone from Motorola is is going to pack some high-end hardware inside. The star of the show will be the Snapdragon 898 chip, which Qualcomm is expected to unveil later this December. A very fast charging system is also in the tow.
In fact, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra comes across as an incremental upgrade to the Motorola Edge 20 Pro that we reviewed a few weeks ago. The leak suggests that most of the core features will stay unchanged but some key aspects will receive a 2022-spec upgrade. This phone is likely to be launched as the Moto Edge X in China soon. The leak comes from TechnikNews.
The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will share a couple of features with the existing Edge 20 Pro. It is suggested that the 144Hz OLED display and the 5000mAh battery will be carried over from the Edge 20 Pro. However, the rest of the features are changed.
The Snapdragon 898 is expected to take over from the old Snapdragon 870, while Motorola might also give the phone a 68W fast charging system capable of doing a full charge in 35 minutes. The phone will come with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Android 12 will be offered out of the box and Motorola will offer two years of OS updates.
Apart from the IP52 water and dust resistance rating, Motorola is changing the camera setup on the Edge 30 ultra. The primary camera will have a 50MP camera accompanied by another 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra-wide camera sensor. The third camera will be a 2MP depth camera. The selfie camera will have a 60MP sensor!
The phone is likely to miss out on the 3.5mm headphone jack but Motorola is said to stuff a stereo speaker setup. The dedicated Google Assistant key will remain.
What remains to be seen is whether this phone reaches India and other markets in this very form. The Edge 20 Pro has seen multiple variant based on markets this year, with India getting the most advanced variant in terms of cameras and overall build quality. This one could be reserved for China while India may get a boosted variant with better cameras.
