Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ to launch with Sony IMX766 sensor later this week

Oppo will soon launch a new phone under its Reno 5 series. So far, the company has launched Reno 5 and Reno 5 Pro phones. And now, the company is gearing up to launch a Reno 5 Pro+ on December 24. Ahead of the official launch, Oppo has confirmed its Reno 5 Pro+ will have Sony IMX766 primary camera. It will also be one of the first phones to have Sony’s 50-megapixel sensor.

The official teaser on Weibo reveals a familiar back design. Reno 5 Pro+ is seen sporting three big camera lenses stacked in a rectangular-like camera module. The volume buttons are seen on the right edge. The back panel also houses Oppo engraving and matte colour finish with a textured finish.

That said, older rumours suggest Reno 5 Pro+ will have a combination of 50-megapixel, 16-megapixel, 13-megapixel, and a 2-megapixel sensor. On the front, it will have a 32-megapixel selfie camera. For performance, the phone is said to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage. It will also support 5G connectivity. It will run on a 4,500mAh battery coupled with 65W rapid charging technology.

Oppo’s upcoming premium phone is also said to have a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The display also has an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

For comparison, Reno 5 Pro runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000+ chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has a 4,350mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging. It has a quad-camera setup featuring a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro sensor, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The smartphone also has a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies.
