After launching Mi 11, Xiaomi is working on another series with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 flagship chip. Redmi GM Lu Weibing in a Weibo post confirmed that the sub-brand would launch K40 series with the latest chipset next month.
According to reports, Qualcomm’s flagship chip will be available on the top-end model of the K40 series, dubbed as K40 Pro. Weibing also revealed that that the phones will offer battery capacity “more than 4,000mAh”. His post also confirmed the starting price of K40 series will be 2,999 Yuan ( ₹34,000 approximately).
Xiaomi’s K40 series will succeed the K30 series, which had launched in China in December 2019. It was also one of the cheapest 5G capable smartphones then. Later, Poco introduced X2 in India. The handset was a rebranded version of K30.
The last phone in the K30 series was the K30 Ultra. Aimed at the premium flagship segment, the handset had MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G processor, 120Hz AMOLED full-screen display, 64MP quad-camera, and a dual stereo speaker.
It offered up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB built-in storage. The quad-camera setup featured 64MP+13MP+5MP+2MP sensors. On the front, it had a 20-megapixel selfie camera. A 4,500mAh battery powered the phone.
