Samsung Galaxy A22’s BIS listing hints at the imminent India launch

Samsung is reportedly working on another affordable 5G smartphone under its Galaxy A lineup. Dubbed as Galaxy A22, the smartphone will be available in the 4G version as well. The handset has also appeared in leaks, albeit sporadically. Now, the Galaxy A22 has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website.

According to the listing, the phone sports SM-A225F/DS model number and comes with dual-SIM support. Other than this, the listing does not reveal any other feature. The appearance, however, suggests the imminent launch of the phone in the country.

The handset with model number SM-A226B (said to be the 5G version) will come with four rear cameras. The setup is said to feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and two 2-megapixel sensors. Rumours suggest the phone will be available in multiple RAM and storage variants. It will be available in colour options such as grey, white, light green, and purple. For performance, the handset may rely on the MediaTek 700-series chip or Qualcomm’s 480 5G processor.

According to older rumours, Samsung Galaxy A22 will come with Android 11 out-of-the-box. As far as pricing goes, it’s said to be around Eur 229 ( ₹20,450 approximately). If true, it will be much more affordable than the Galaxy A32, which is among the most affordable Samsung 5G phones.

Apart from an affordable Galaxy A 5G phone, Samsung is also planning something similar for its M-series. The company has already confirmed it will launch Galaxy M42 in India on April 28. The smartphone will also be the first 5G phone under the popular Galaxy M lineup. Some of the top features expected on the Galaxy M42 5G are a 6,000mAh battery, 4GB of RAM, 128GB storage, 64-megapixel quad-camera, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750 G processor.
