Samsung has rolled out a new firmware update for its Galaxy S21 users. It is the third update to the flagship lineup since the global launch last month.
The update is available over-the-air in several markets like the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. According to Sammobile, the latest update has the same changelog as the previous one. The update focuses on improving camera performance and overall performance.
The update also comes after some Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+ users complained that the battery life had reduced after the previous update. While Samsung has acknowledged the issue, it is not clear that the new update has the battery drain fix.
Our Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra unit has also received a firmware update. The changelog says the performance of the camera and overall device performance have been improved. The update also brings Security Patch Level: 1 February 2021. The update on the Galaxy S21 Ultra is roughly 290.56MB in size.
According to Samsung’s support page, the first firmware update for Galaxy S21 Ultra released on January 15. Apart from the January security patch, it brought a variety of updates. The changelog notes that the camera performance was improved with the update. It also improved Wi-Fi connectivity and stability. Other improvements focused on fingerprint recognition and overall stability functions.
How to install the update
To manually check if you have received the update, go to Settings on your phone. Tap on Software Update. If available, download it or schedule it for a later time. Samsung is also alerting users through a push notification. Tapping on the notification will take you directly to the install page. You will also see the software update prompt on top of the Settings page. You can follow the same steps on your Galaxy S21 or Galaxy S21+ units.
