Samsung may not kill Galaxy Note series just yet, says exec

Samsung mobiles head TM Roh, recently confirmed that Samsung Galaxy S21 flagship smartphone will be launching in January and it might support the S Pen. However, that that is not all. It was also assumed that since the Galaxy S series now has the S Pen support, it will also mark the end of Galaxy Note series. That's because both these series of smartphones have nearly the same set of specs with S Pen being the only major differentiator. 

However, this rumour might not be true. 

According to a report from Yonhap News Agency, one of the unnamed Samsung officials has been quoted saying that “we are preparing to release the Galaxy Note series, next year.”

For now, obviously there is no confirmation on the Note series. But if this news is true, it will just make the Galaxy Note series one of the many other premium smartphones that Samsung has right now.

It is also not for sure what specs and features will the Galaxy Note 2021 models will be featuring, something that will make them different from the Galaxy S series.

Meanwhile, Roh has also confirmed that S Pen support will be coming to foldable phones as well. What’s more is that Samsung plans to bring foldables at a more ‘affordable’ price tag. “Accessible” in this case most probably refers to the price of the foldables that range between $1,300 to $2,000 right now. Rumour has it that the Z Fold “Lite” in the horizon sometime in 2021. Samsung is hopefully aiming to make foldables something more than a ‘curiosity’, in which case they will have to bring the prices down significantly.
