Xiaomi announces MIUI 12.5 global launch date for Mi and Redmi smartphones

It's worth adding that the company launched its flagship MI 11 handset, alongside the EMUI 12.5 in China last month.

After weeks of waiting, Xiaomi has finally revealed when it will be rolling out its latest EMUI 12.1 operating system to phones globally.

As shared on the MIUI Global Facebook page (spotted by Gadgets 360), the company has mentioned that MIUI 12.5 will be coming on February 8. Although the post doesn't mention the details, it is likely that the arrival will be parallel to the global announcement of MI 11 smartphone, in a virtual event.

As one can expect, the global version of MIUI 12.5 won’t be different from the version available in China. You will get features like clipboard protection, floating windows, approximate location sharing and sandbox support. The company is also including the updated Notes and Mi Browser app in its MIUI 12.5. 

However, the key feature of this new operating system is MIUI+. What it does is to let users club there Xiaomi phones with Windows PC for easy access to notifications, text messages and photos directly on the computer screen. You can also access phone’s clipboard data and some installed apps via the PC. 

When launched in China, the MIUI 12.5 was promised to take around 32% less RAM during operations, along with 17% less power consumption. The company is yet to reveal the number of phones that will be receiving the mid 2.5 Global update.

In China, the company has revealed that smartphones getting this update are Redmi K20, K20 Pro, K30, K30 Pro, MI 10, MI 10 Pro, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 9.
