Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 price hiked yet again: Here’s the new price

Xiaomi has reportedly increased the price of its smartphone. The handset in question is the six-month old Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. Now, the smartphone comes with a base price of ₹12,499, as seen on the Mi India website and on the partner e-commerce firm, Amazon India. At ₹12,499 you will get the 4GB+64GB model. It is not for sure if the same will be done in the offline market or not.

For those wondering, the new price of the Redmi Note 8 is an increase by ₹500. What’s interesting is that the more powerful 6GB+128GB model hasn’t received any price hike and continues to sell at ₹14,499. The increase in the price is said to be due to the changes in the GST (Goods and Service tax) regulations and factors like Covid-19, which is impacting both production and retail segments.

This is not the first time that the company has hiked the price of its Redmi Note 8. In May this year, the firm increased the handset’s cost by ₹500. The 4GB RAM and 64GB memory variant of the Redmi Note 8 was earlier available for ₹11,499, which later became ₹11,999 after the ₹500 hike. Similarly, the 6GB RAM and 128GB space variant was priced at ₹14,499.

The firm also increased the price of Redmi 8 and the Redmi 8A Dual smartphones.

The basic set of specs include a 6.3-inch FHD+ IPS screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, Adreno 610, 4GB+64GB or 6GB+128GB variants, 48MP+8MP Ultra wide lens+2MP Macro lens+2MP Depth sensor, 13MP front camera and 4000mAh battery.
