Xiaomi has teased the launch of its next Redmi smartphone in India. It’s most likely the Redmi 9 based on the teaser shared by Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain. Xiaomi could launch the Redmi 9A or Redmi 9C as Redmi 9 in India.
The teaser mentions the recent launches which include the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9 Prime. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 9 as Redmi 9 Prime in India. Seeing that the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C were launched in Malaysia this June, either of the phones could likely arrive as the Redmi 9 in India.
This would also be the most affordable in the series so far. Redmi 9A is priced at MYR ( ₹6,300 approx) while the Redmi 9C starts at MYR 429 ( ₹7,500 approx). In terms of specs, Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C both come with a 6.53-inch HD+ display, MIUI 11 based on Android 10 and a 5,000mAh battery. On the Redmi 9C you get MediaTek’s Helio G35 chipset. The Redmi 9A is powered by the Helio G25 chipset.
Another difference is in the camera department. The Redmi 9A has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. There’s a triple camera setup on the Redmi 9C with a combination of 13MP+2MP+MP. It has the same 5-megapixel camera for selfies.
There’s no confirmation which of the two phones will arrive in India. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the launch date for Redmi 9 yet but it’s expected to take place soon.
