Xiaomi to launch Redmi 9 Prime in India on August 4

Xiaomi today confirmed that it is set to launch a brand new smartphone in India next month. The company via a teaser video on its YouTube channel confirmed that the Redmi 9 Prime will be launched in India on August 4.

Earlier, reports hinted towards Xiaomi launching its Redmi 9 in India. The company had also shared a teaser on Twitter, which indicated that it would be launching the Redmi 9 in India on August 4. But now, fresh teasers confirm that the Xiaomi’s next smartphone in India will be called the Redmi 9 Prime.

The upcoming Redmi 9 Prime will be launched in India at 12PM on August 4. The phone, which is expected to be a slightly modified version of the Redmi 9 that was launched in Europe at a starting price of EUR 149 ( ₹12,700), is already listed on Amazon India as one of its Prime Day launches. This means while the phone may be launched on August 4, it may go on sale in the country on August 6. This, of course, is speculation at this point and we’ll have to wait for the company to reveal the specifics.

To recall, the e-retailer will be hosting its annual Prime Day sale in India between August 6 and August 7.

The teaser listed on Mi.com and Amazon India also hints that the upcoming Redmi 9 Prime will offer ‘Prime Time Entertainment’, ‘Prime Time Gaming’, ‘Prime Time Camera’, ‘Prime Time Design’, ‘Prime Time Battery’ and ‘Prime Time Quality’ Another teaser video shared by Xiaomi on Twitter reveals that the phone will come with splash-proof technology.

Redmi 9 comes with a 6.53-inch full HD+ display. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G80 processor. It has 13MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP camera setup at the back and an 8MP camera up front. It is backed by a 5,020mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
