Snapchat has finally made it possible to add music to their Snaps. Snapchat is calling this feature “Sounds”, and it is rolling out first to iOS users. Snapchat started testing this feature earlier this year in August.

Snapchat users on iOS can add music to their Snaps pre or post capture. There’s a library of songs that users can choose from. Users can also swipe up to view the album art, song title and name of the artist on Snaps which have music on them. There’s also a “Play This Song” link that will direct users to Spotify, Apple Music and SoundCloud to listen to the full song.

The new Sounds feature will appear as a music icon on the menu bar that appears while capturing Snaps. You can select songs from the list of tracks available in the library. Snapchat also lets you create your own audio and upload it along with your Snap. This feature is currently available only for iOS users. There’s no word on when Snapchat plans to bring it to Android.

With the new feature, Snapchat comes closer to TikTok and Instagram Reels. TikTok grew to become a major platform for music especially making old songs rival, and even some new ones. Instagram also has its library of music that can be added to Stories and Reels. Snapchat however, doesn’t have the scrolling feed like the other two apps.

Snapchat is also debuting Justin Bieber’s upcoming song ‘Lonely’ with benny blanco. The new song will be available exclusively on Snapchat before the official release scheduled for tomorrow.
