NASA revealed in its blog post, “During peak activity and perfect weather conditions, which are rare, the Geminids produce approximately 100-150 meteors per hour for viewing”. And while a waning gibbous Moon can make it harder to see all of the meteors passing through the sky, it is expected that the Geminid meteor shower will be so bright that you will get to see a great show regardless. Interestingly, the meteor shower is coined the Geminids because the meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Gemini.

According to NASA, the peak for the Geminid meteor shower will be at 6 AM CST (5:30 PM IST) on December 14. The meteor shower should offer a great view throughout the night. The last opportunity to watch the meteor shower is on December 17 but on that night you may only see a couple of meteors passing through the sky.
