With iPhone and an updated iMessag app being contantly in the news, Facebook cofounder Mark Zuckerberg has gone public and slammed Apple in a new Instagram post where he praised the privacy of the instant-messaging platform WhatsApp owned by him and lauding its safe and secure environment. He commented about how the platform is more secure than iMessage. In the post, Zuckerberg shared an image of WhatsApp's billboard taking a dig at the Blue and Green color chat bubbles as seen in Apple’s iMessage. The company seems to be advertising the end-to-end encryption offered by WhatsApp. Along with the image, Zuckerberg wrote, “WhatsApp is far more private and secure than iMessage, with end-to-end encryption that works across both iPhones and Android, including group chats.” He also added that WhatsApp also lets users set all new chats to disappear with the tap of a button. He also highlighted that last year they introduced end-to-end encrypted backups too and how iMessage still doesn't have these features.

Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, too shared a tweet thread going over many of the same talking points. Furthermore, iMessage doesn’t have disappearing messages. Though iOS 16 introduced the ability to take back messages up to two minutes after you sent them, it is only available to most up-to-date software. That’s not all, iMessage backups are not end-to-end encrypted. Meta isn’t the only tech giant giving Apple a hard time about iMessage. Recently, Google has also pushed Apple to adopt RCS, a successor to SMS, in its Messages app.
