Have you tried purchasing an app, or an app's subscription via the saved debit/credit card details on your iPhone? Have they failed? If the answer is yes, then worry not. Apple has implemented the new Indian government regulations wherein your iPhone can not store your card details. Hence, buying an app or getting an app subscription on your iPhone has to be done in a different way.

Instead of relying on your debit/credit card, you can now make the payments via Apple ID payment. Your Apple ID can now store credit on your account and will let you spend it on app purchases or subscriptions. The amount will need to be added manually on to your Apple ID account, which is possible via UPI, Netbanking, and App Store codes.

Use Apple ID balance to make App Store payment

“Regulatory requirements in India apply to the processing of recurring transactions. If you hold an Indian debit or credit card and you have a subscription, these changes impact your transactions. Some transactions might be declined by banks and card issuers,” says Apple

“To continue enjoying your subscriptions, you can pay with your Apple ID balance. You can add to your Apple ID balance using App Store Codes, Net Banking, and UPI,” adds Apple.

You can try making a payment using the Apple ID balance way. Here is how you can do it.

How to pay via Apple ID balance

    Step 1:

Go the iPhone's homescreen and open the App Store.

    Step 2:

Tap your photo or the sign-in button at the top of the screen.

    Step 3:

Now tap on "Add Funds to Apple ID."

    Step 4:

To add funds instantly, tap the amount that you want to add. You can also enter the amount manually.

    Step 5:

Now follow the onscreen instructions to complete the purchase. You can either make the payment via UPI or via Netbanking, the process of which is same as ever.

    Step 6:

You can also automatically add to your balance in the future. For this, tap Set Up Auto Reload.

    Step 7:

Once done, you will now be able to make payments to your app developer from your iPhone.
