iPhone health app can tell you of a HIDDEN illness you did not know
Your iPhone can monitor your health and alarm you of upcoming illness. Know how
The iPhone is known as a premium phone because of the amazing features it offers to its users. And this applies to professional and private spheres. In fact, the iPhone also packs features that were not found in many hospitals across the world just a few decades ago. Among several other important features is the iPhone health app. This health app can be very important for you as it can raise an alarm or alert you of an upcoming illness that you did not even know you had and thereby prevent you from suffering pain. Yes, it can warn you of "disease or injury" that you were unaware of. To the app, through the recent iOS 15 update, Apple has added yet another significant feature that you should know about. Called the Walking Steadiness feature, it will assess your balance, stability, and coordination through the built-in motion sensors on your iPhone.
This iPhone feature relies on the fact that you carry your iPhone in your pocket and hence Apple's technology monitors the way you're walking. As you walk with your iPhone, it tracks mobility metrics, like walking speed, step length, double support time, and walking asymmetry to determine your walking steadiness and classification.
Apple explained that in a healthy walking pattern, the timing of the steps one takes with each foot are very similar while walking asymmetry is the percent of time one's steps with one foot are faster or slower than the other foot. This means the lower the percentage of asymmetry, the healthier your walking pattern. Uneven walking patterns, such as limping, can tell you about some disease, injury or other health issues. Apple classifies the walking steadiness index as OK, low, or very low and allows you to choose to receive a notification if your steadiness is low or very low.
You can even enable health sharing to share your walking steadiness data and notifications with friends or family. Here's how you can set up the iPhone Walking Steadiness feature.
