After JioPhone Next, Jio wants to go bigger! Know what's in store for us
JioPhone Next could be followed by a Jio tablet and Jio TV! After launching its first smartphone earlier this year, Jio is now working on a tablet and a smart TV, suggests a latest tip. Both of these products are expected to launch in 2022, although an exact launch timeframe is still unknown. A Jio laptop is also in the works.
No details or internal specifications have come up on the rumoured Jio tablet and Jio TV. However, tipster Mukul Sharma notes that these products will launch sometime in 2022. While Jio has nothing to comment on this development, we expect these to be announced at next Reliance AGM event that usually takes place in the third quarter of every year. The information comes via a report from 91Mobiles.
Jio TV, Jio tablet in the works
It is expected of the Jio TV and Jio tablet to be priced lower than the competition in the market, similar to the JioPhone Next. After the JioPhone Next, it seems that the Jio tablet could run on the same Pragati OS and may have entry-level specifications. Jio could offer the same smart features and services we saw on its smartphone.
Hence, features like translation, narration in native language, and an easier to use interface could be on the cards for the tablet.
The Jio TV, on other hand, could be an affordable smart TV. Given that Jio already has readymade smart interface with its Jio Fiber set-top box, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the same experience ported to its smart TVs. The TV could have support for OTT apps as well as be available in different screen sizes.
Previous rumours have also suggested a Jio laptop in the works. Exact details on this laptop are sketchy but here's everything we know about it. Jio could either be using a MediaTek MT8788 SoC, or a Snapdragon 665 chip, paired to 2GB RAM. The laptop could feature a 1366 x 768 resolution display, support for 4G networks, and a combination of Jio as well as Microsoft apps.
