iPhone 13 Pro has a BIG surprise for Nokia 3310
The Nokia 3310 has been observed to be in a much worse shape than an iPhone 13 Pro in a crazy drop test. Read to find out how the iPhone 13 Pro fared.
For years, we have seen the Nokia 3310 take the harshest of beating and emerge as the king of durable phones. However, 2021 may finally have a phone that can outdo this relic from the past. Meet the…(cue to the drumroll)… iPhone 13 Pro! Surprised, aren't you? How can an expensive phone covered mostly with glass and other sensitive materials stand up outdo a brick quality Nokia 3310?
The answer came from a drop test video by TechRax, who had the guts to throw an iPhone 13 Pro and a Nokia 3310 from several flights of stairs. The iPhone was dropped dressed in the transparent plastic case from Apple while the Nokia 3310 was not wearing any case. While the results were expected to be otherwise, it was the iPhone that survived three drops and continued working.
iPhone 13 Pro beats Nokia 3310 in durability
The Nokia 3310 lost its composure in the first drop when all of its parts came off and the phone was found in bits and pieces. The keypad, frame, motherboard, and battery were all separated after the first impact. That wasn't the case for the iPhone.
On its first drop, the iPhone 13 Pro had only shattered its rear glass and kept the video recording switched on (it was dropped with the camera switched on). A second drop attempt saw the rear shatter further while the edges of the display had developed cracks. The third drop saw the glass bits coming off the rear while the display glass cracked some more.
However, the phone was still working after the third drop. The camera was working normally and so was the rest of the display, registering touch inputs.
Even though the iPhone 13 Pro was wearing its case in all the three cases, it came out of the test better. Apple's latest iteration of Ceramic Shield is pretty durable in resisting cracks against such massive drop cases. Hence, if you have a habit of dropping yor phones regularly, the iPhone 13 Pro should fare well in such conditions.
However, the situation may be different with the bigger iPhone 13 Pro Max that has a larger body and more surface. The regular iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini may suffer worse owing to their aluminium frames (the Pro models have a stainless steel body).
