Microsoft is having a really busy time. Earlier this year, the company hosted an event during which it launched the Windows 11 operating system. And tonight, the company hosted another event, this time dedicated to devices, including a fodable phone. The list includes the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio, Surface Pro 8 laptop, Surface Go 3 laptop and Surface Slim Pen 2. In addition to these laptops, Microsoft also announced its second-generation foldable screen device -- the Microsoft Surface Duo 2.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2, the highlight of the event, succeeds the Microsoft Surface Duo that was launched back in October 2019. While the Surface Duo failed to make a dent in the foldable market, Microsoft is hoping to change that with the launch of the Surface Duo 2.

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 will be available for pre-orders in Glacier and Obsidian colour variants at a starting price of $1499.99 ( ₹1,10,687 approx.) in select markets. The company didn't mention the countries where Microsoft Surface Duo 2 will be available in.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 features and specs

The overall design of the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has remained unchanged compared to its predecessor. You get the 8.3-inch PixelSense Fusion displays on the inside. Individually, the screen measures 5.8-inches each. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G system-on-chip that is coupled with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage space. The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has Bluetooth 5.0, 5G for connectivity and NFC for contactless payments.

On the camera front, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has a triple camera system consisting of a 12MP wide-angle sensor with OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS. For Surface Duo 2, Microsoft has created its own camera app.

Microsoft said that Surface Duo 2 users can use any two Android apps simultaneously. “Surface Duo 2 is much more than a phone. From the integration with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, to entertainment scenarios like TikTok, Kindle and gaming, Duo 2 enables countless app pairings and unmatched multitasking capabilities,” Microsoft said in a press release.
