Oppo is working on a new foldable phone and here’s what it looks like
There is no word on when Oppo will showcase this phone officially.
Oppo has long been known to be working on a foldable display smartphone. In the past, reports have detailed several designs that the company is considering working on. Now, a new report brings to life a design that we saw earlier this year.
Dutch site Let's Go Digital reports that Oppo is working on a foldable display smartphone that has been designed by American fashion designer Tom Ford. The publication was able to get its hands on the documents pertaining to the unannounced phone. These documents not only showcase the design of the phone but they also give us a glimpse of the phone's wallpapers.
The images show that Oppo's upcoming smartphone comes with a slider display, which when opened completely expands the surface area of the display by around 80%. This is the same design blueprints of which the company first showed back in August this year.
At the back, the phone has a horizontally-mounted triple camera setup that is placed inside a rectangular camera module. On the sides, it has loops that may be used to hang the phone like a fashion accessory. When the phone is completely open, you can see that the SIM-card slot is placed on the right side. Turn it around and what you see is a phone with full-screen display. It doesn't have a notch or a punch-hole design. This means that the company plans on hiding the selfie camera in plain sight by using an under-display camera sensor.
For now, that is all that is known about the Oppo X Tom Ford. It remains to be seen if and when the company plans to launch this phone officially.
