A gentleman's game: App to decode your cricket

Saurabh Netravalkar applied his technical knowledge to develop the app, which can be used on android and various other systems, helps cricketers analyse their game. “It maintains stats, analyses performances and keeps the record of the player’s career.

Four years ago, Saurabh Netravalkar's topped India's wicket charts at the U-19 World Cup. Using his height, the left-arm pacer clicked on responsive pitches in New Zealand, although India didn't reach the final.

Since then, the Mumbai player has faded away, the promise further eroded by his decision to juggle time between cricket and engineering. Last year, Netravalkar graduated in Computer Science but declined a campus placement to focus on a cricket career.

However, Netravalkar, 22, applied his technical knowledge to develop a cricket app - CricDeCode. "I didn't want the hours of engineering studies to go waste. That's how I thought of developing the mobile app," he told HT. "I developed it with Aaswad Satpute and Sheetal Pandrekar, my Sardar Patel Institute of Technology classmates. It took us 3 months."

The app, which can be used on android and various other systems, helps cricketers analyse their game. "It maintains stats, analyses performances and keeps the record of the player's career. It also has filters and allows a player to study the game in detail."
