Amazon launches Prime Video Windows 10 desktop app
The Amazon Prime Video app for Windows 10 can be downloaded on PCs, laptops, and tablets via the Microsoft Store.
Amazon India has launched a desktop application for its Windows 10 users in India. This means that users of laptops, tablets and personal computer users will now be able to access their favourite shows and movies from the Prime Video app as they did in case of the platform's web-based interface.
The newly launched Amazon Prime Video for Windows app will enable users not only to stream Prime Video content online but also download their favourite shows and movies for viewing them offline on their devices. The app can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store on the Windows 10-powered desktop PCs, laptops, and tablets.
Amazon says that the online streaming experience on the app will be the same as the current experience on the Prime Video website.
Notably, the development comes shortly after the company introduced a Netflix-like Profiles feature in its Prime Video platform in India. The feature allows users to create separate user profiles. As of now this feature is available only on the Amazon Fire TV and users can create a total of six profiles, which includes a default profile and five more profiles for kids and other family members.
As per a separate report, the company is working on bringing live TV feature to Prime Video. The company could air live news, music, sports, award shows and special events besides movies and TV shows. The company is reportedly is pursuing deals to license live and linear programming.
