Apple’s iPad Air 4, Apple Watch 6 might be announced later today: Here’s what to expect

Apple is expected to make an announcement later today that will bring in the new iPad Air 4 and Apple Watch 6. While this has not been officially announced, there are enough rumours doing to the rounds to support it.

Rumour has it that Apple is going to make a couple of product announcements later today and these will possibly include the new iPad Air 4 and the Apple Watch 6. Cases for the iPad 4 Air have reportedly been spotted on sale hinting at the possibility of the product launching later today.

According to well-known Apple tipster Jon Prosser, The announcement is going to be made on September 8 at 9 AM EST (that's 6:30 PM IST). At that point in time, Prosser had mentioned that this bit of information was not confirmed and was subject to change.

Apple press release is currently scheduled for Tuesday (September 8) at 9:00am EST — though, I should note that it's not locked in until the press has been briefed, day of.

Prosser tweeted yesterday that the Apple Watch 5 was out of stock for many regions indicating that the new Apple Watch 6 might drop in today as well along with the iPad Air 4. Again, he didn't confirm any of this.

The last tweet by Prosser early today mentions that according to his sources, the iPad Air 4 and the Apple Watch 6 are both coming today and Apple is going to announce them via a press release.

So here's what we know so far about the Apple Watch 6:

Apple is expected to announce two watches today - one high-end variety that's going to succeed the Apple Watch 5 and another low-cost variant that should replace the Apple Watch 3. The low-cost version might come with a plastic body instead of titanium or aluminium.

And speaking about the iPad Air 4:

Going by reports, the Apple iPad Air 4 is expected to have a design that's similar to the iPad Pro. Apple had rehauled the iPad Pro lineup last year with flat edges and had removed the Home button and the iPad Air 4 should follow the same design language. It should also come with support for the 2nd-gen Apple Pencil.
