Apple to launch two new Apple Watches, over-the-ear headphones later this year
Apple is set to launch four new iPhone 12 models in fall this year. In addition to upgrading its iPhone series, Apple will also be upgrading its other devices including its smartwatch and its smart speaker. Now, a new report gives us a better idea as to what we should expect from the company's fall launch event.
Apple conventionally launches Apple Watch series alongside the next-generation iPhones every year. Now, a Bloomberg report says that Apple instead of launching one Apple Watch will be launching two new Apple Watch versions this year. While one Apple Watch will succeed the Apple Watch Series 5 that was launched last year, the other low-cost Apple Watch will be a replacement for the Watch Series 3 and compete with the smartwatches launched by companies such as Fitbit, Garmin and others.
A previous report by tipster Jon Prosser said something similar. He said that Apple was working on an affordable Apple Watch that might come with a plastic body instead of aluminium and titanium cases available in premium Apple Watch series models. Beyond that details about the affordable Apple Watch remain largely unknown.
Coming back to Apple's 2020 lineup, the report also states that Apple is also planning to launch its first over-ear headphones in fall this year. This pair of headphones will be outside the company's Beats brand. If this report is indeed true then we are looking at Apple adding a new device to its Music category, which at the moment includes HomePod, AirPods, AirPods Pro and iPod Touch.
That said, all these details should be taken with a pinch of salt. Apple hasn't commented on the matter yet and so we will have to wait for the company's launch event to say anything with surety.
