Cloned cow gives birth in East China province

A fourth cloned cow named Jin Jin has given birth to a male calf in China's Shandong province, a report said on Tuesday.

A fourth cloned cow, named Jin Jin, has given birth to a male calf in East China's Shandong province, a report said on Tuesday.

The 48.5 kg calf had all its physiological indices, including heartbeat, temperature, and breath normal.

In 2002, scientists from the Institute of Zoology, under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, cloned five cattle in Caoxian county in Shandong province.

Fu Fu, one of the five cloned cows, was the first to reproduce on March 31 and Jin Jin is the fourth to give birth.
