'Gran Turismo 6' demo launches, gives taste of real racing

Nissan's GT Academy 2013 will pluck four 'Gran Turismo 6' hopefuls and train them up for real-world racing as part of the manufacturer's Nismo Athlete team.

The 'GT6' demo includes a selection of non-competitive events and culminates in a Silverstone GP lap time qualifier for the GT Academy.

Racers from 17 European territories, Russia and the US are eligible to compete in the demo's GT Academy portion, which stays active until July 28, with the demo as a whole available until August 31.

And though only 183 drivers will proceed from the online qualifying round, a bonus 15 Year Anniversary race will unlock for all who managed to clear all five Silverstone circuit time trials with a bronze rating or better.

'Gran Turismo 6' is to launch on PlayStation 3 in 2013, with a November release thought most likely.
