The company's one true professional product has been neglected over recent years as Apple has chased the consumer market with tablets, smartphones and apps but a number of recent reports and events seem to point to the fact that after three years of stagnation, the Mac Pro tower is finally being revamped.

The trusted source, who spoke to Mac Daily News, told the blog that a 'Mac Pro Replacement' would be coming in April but could not provide any further details as to expected specifications or design.

A number of well-respected Apple watchers and tech journalists also revealed in an open Branch discussion earlier this month that Apple is gearing up for a product launch towards the end of the month and could use the event to launch a new iPad too.

Other corroborating evidence comes from the fact that Apple released an update to Final Cut Pro, its professional video editing software at the end of March that is designed around speed and efficiency. However, its existing line of professional workstations would struggle to run the program at full capacity, as Computerword journalist Jonny Evans pointed out in a piece on the subject.

Back in February, a French Apple reseller claimed in its newsletter that a replacement would be released this spring and went on to say that it had been informed of the update by Apple.

While Mac Pro users everywhere feel they have been deserted by a company that not so long ago they, and they alone supported, the issue is more pronounced in Europe where the aging work station tower has had to be withdrawn from sale. Since March 1, it has not complied with EU regulations due to the fact that it has no internal cooling fan guards and because of the way power is routed to its I/O ports.
