The US space agency NASA has heard the sound of cats in space and interestingly, you can hear it too. Wondering how? Well! Scientists have shared a video of the Cat Eye Nebula on International Cats Day on August 8. In the video, the waves emanating from the nebula are converted into sound through sonification. The sound can be heard getting louder as the sound wave moves towards the bright light. If you watch the video, you will hear a harsh sound in the X-ray data of NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. It can be well heard in the composite image wavelength.

Wondering how NASA is related to cats and what is a Cat Eye Nebula? NASA shares a special bond with cats as they named the one of brightest and most highly detailed planetary nebula “Cat Eye Nebula '' after a cat in space. It looks like a giant cosmic conch shell or cat's eye. According to Nasa, stars like our Sun are formed in this nebula. Here's all you need to know about Cat's Eye Nebula.

Where is the Cat's Eye Nebula located?

As reported by Nasa, the Cat's Eye Nebula is located 3,262 light-years away from Earth in the northern constellation of Draco. It is composed of gas expelled in the phase near the end of life of a Sun-like star. It has beautiful, complex-yet-symmetric inner structures. It is also known as NGC 6543.

What is Nebula?

A nebula is a giant cloud of dust and gas in space which is formed when a star like the Sun runs out of helium to burn and explodes. Due to this, huge clouds of gas and dust are formed resulting in formation of a new structure. Nebula's X-ray through the Chandra Observatory and its visible light image have been captured through the Hubble Telescope.
