It is May The Fourth today, which means Star Wars fans have been going gaga over celebrating their iconic movie franchise all around the globe. And for the fans, it is always nice to see some BTS footage, or Behind The Scenes footage of how their favourite characters are created, or made. Apple on this occasion has released a new short film on YouTube that takes Star Wars fans on a different kind of journey — a journey that shows how Star Wars sounds are created, or how sounds are created for most of famous sci-fi movies.

The movie, called “Behind the Mac: Skywalker Sound” by Apple is now available on YouTube and goes on to show how the sounds of some of the most iconic characters have been created in the Star Wars universe. And at the heart of all the creation are Apple's Mac computers, which is why Apple created and shared the film on its channel. The movie is a sneak peek into the sound library of the Skywalker Studios and how Apple Macs play a crucial role in helping create the most iconic sounds.

Apple Star Wars short film is out

If you are a Star Wars fan, you should go and check it out immediately. The movie shows some fun bits of how the lightsaber sound was created, and how little explosions or shattering metal parts are given their aural effect. You also get to see how the simplest of sounds such as walking on grass, or creating the thumping effect of a Stormtrooper — it is all shown here.

“The scream of a TIE fighter. The Pew-Pew! of a blaster. Behind the Mac: Skywalker Sound spotlights the team of creators who collaborate to make the magic we hear onscreen. From field recording and Foley to sound design and mixing, these artists reveal their process, showing us how they use Mac to bring to life sounds from the Star Wars universe and beyond,' says Apple in its description.

But exactly many Macs does it take to create those magical audio effects you hear on Star Wars movies? “With the power of approximately 130 Mac Pro racks, as well as 50 iMac, 50 MacBook Pro, and 50 Mac mini computers running Pro Tools as their main audio application, along with a fleet of iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV devices, Skywalker is advancing sound artistry and reshaping the industry,” says Apple.
